ISO-Rated Cleanroom Overview

Praecis fabricates advanced-technology cleanrooms of all ISO classes (1 - 9). Managed by the Praecis ATCU control software, each cleanroom is a customized Praecis Environment system that controls as many environmental variables as the application requires.

Praecis partners with cleanroom sub-specialists to take advantage of the latest technological advances in air purity and monitoring. Praecis’ collaborative efforts ensure a state-of-the art and cost-effective system.

Praecis Cleanroom Features:

Air filters reduce particulates through the use of HEPA and ULPA technology.

Laminar Air Flow. Praecis systems provide uniform laminar flow from the ceiling over the entire enclosure. Depending on the class of the cleanroom, the laminar air distribution system can be one of several options, such as a ceiling panels fitted with HEPA/ULPA filters, a hard ceiling with perforations, or a porous fabric “textile” mattress.

An ISO class 1 enclosure, for example, would require a ceiling of continuous UPLA filters, while an ISO class 8 air distribution system would likely require a textile mattress with a single HEPA filter.

The ATCU records and displays the conditions in the enclosure. Custom displays and alarms are available.

Design details may include cleanroom features such as lack of horizontal surfaces, rounded corners, pass-through chambers and showers, gas monitoring and sampling, as well as humidity control provided by the Praecis HUC.

What is an ISO Cleanroom?

A cleanroom is a controlled environment that has a low level of pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapors. The applied ISO rating specifies the number and size of particles per cubic meter.

Cleanrooms are classified according to the number and size of particles permitted per volume of air. ISO 14644-1 standards specify the decimal logarithm of the size and number of particles permitted per cubic meter of air. So, for example, an ISO class 5 cleanroom has at most 100,000 particles per m³. Ordinary room air is approximately class ISO 9.
