ATCU HCU Enclosure

The Praecis Environment components are modular and customizable.

Praecis provides ultra-precision climate control for any size enclosure or room. The Praecis Environment controls environmental variables including temperature, humidity, pressure, and cleanliness.

Customized System.

The Præcis Environment System is a turnkey, precision climate control system customized to the application. The Praecis Environment systems are the world’s most accurate and cost effective climate control systems .

Praecis provides system engineering from concept to installation and acceptance testing. Each system can have any combination of features and controls. We design, build, and install each system using state-of-the-art elements and controllers customizing each system for the application.

Climate Control Variables

  • Humidity. Constant up to ± 1% RH around the relative humidity set point. The Praecis Humidity Control unit uses steam in an isothermal process, and as such does not change the temperature of the air.

  • Cleanliness. Praecis systems comply to ISO cleanroom standard 14644-1, Class 9 down to Class 1. Includes HEPA or ULPA filters, laminar air flow to maintain constant uni-directional flow (mandated in ISO 1 - 4 classified cleanrooms). Cleanroom features can include absence of horizontal surfaces, rounded corners, pass-through chambers/showers, and air sampling to monitor contamination inside the closure.

  • Pressure. Positive air pressure cleanrooms normally operate within an air pressure range of 5.0 Pa to 50.0 Pa. The Praecis system can control pressure to ± 1 Pa.

  • Acoustic and vibration isolation. Multi-layer acoustic wall construction reduces transmission of external noise into the enclosure. Equipment mounting and airflow paths keep internally generated noise and vibration away from the instrument. Active vibration isolation platforms are integrated into the enclosure.

Laser protection. Enclosures can be configured as Class 1 laser enclosures, with light-tight construction, interlocked doors and access panels, and laser-safe viewing windows rated for the customer’s wavelengths. Designs support compliance with ANSI Z136 and IEC 60825.

Electric and magnetic shielding. A continuous conductive shell with gasketed seams and doors forms a Faraday enclosure that blocks RF interference. Static electric fields are controlled through grounded, static-dissipative construction. Static and low-frequency magnetic fields are reduced with passive high permeability (mu-metal) shielding, active magnetic field cancellation, or both, depending on the application.

Feedthroughs. Fiber optic, electrical, signal, and fluid lines enter through dedicated feedthrough panels configured to the customer’s cabling and fiber requirements. Waveguide ports and filtered connectors maintain RF shielding. Every penetration is also sealed, light-tight, and acoustically treated, so it does not compromise laser safety, cleanliness, humidity, or sound isolation.

Integrated design. These functions compete with one another. Every vent, door, window, and cable port is a potential leak path for heat, moisture, particles, sound, light, and RF. Praecis engineers the enclosure as one system, with the ATCU at its center, so that adding a capability never comes at the expense of another. Praecis works with leading specialist partners and ensures the integrated system’s high performance.

Central Climate Control Processor.

The ATCU houses the climate control hardware and software. Praecis Control Software software controls, monitors, and records of all enclosure conditions. The measurements display on a single user interface; the software is user friendly providing real time data as well as warning alarms if the set temperature goes out of bounds.

The System Runs Itself.

Once tuned, Praecis systems do not require user interaction and will operate indefinitely without adjustment. If there is a significant change in the operating conditions or ambient variables, Praecis can monitor and adjust system control parameters from our headquarters.
